GeekOut Supported the Launch of Nikkei’s “Roblox Bureau”
GeekOut K.K. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Keigo Aoki; hereinafter “GeekOut”) supported the planning, production, and implementation of the newly launched “Roblox Bureau” on Roblox by Nikkei Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Tsuyoshi Hasebe; hereinafter “Nikkei”).

This initiative is part of Nikkei’s special project “α- The Future of 2 Billion People”, which aims to create new media touchpoints with younger audiences, particularly Generation Alpha —those born in or after 2010. In a groundbreaking move for a newspaper company, Nikkei journalists now disseminate information through official avatars, realizing an unprecedented and innovative approach to journalism.
1. Background and Objectives of the “Roblox Bureau”
With the goals of building connections with Generation Alpha and delivering innovative media experiences, Nikkei launched its “Roblox Bureau” on Roblox, a virtual space platform boasting 150 million daily active users.
- Engaging with Generation Alpha: As it becomes increasingly difficult to reach Generation Alpha through traditional advertising and media, Nikkei is exploring new forms of communication by entering the virtual spaces where this generation naturally gathers.
- Innovative media experiences: By venturing into a UGC platform and delivering interactive, two-way information through avatars, a traditional newspaper publisher presents a new vision for next-generation journalism.
2. Scope of GeekOut’s Support
GeekOut brings strong expertise in supporting IPs, media companies, and brands on Roblox, as well as in designing co-creation initiatives with UGC creators. For this project, GeekOut provided comprehensive support in the following areas:
In addition, as part of this project, Soichiro Tanaka, Founder and Director of GeekOut, appeared as a speaker at an online event hosted by Nikkei.
- Planning and implementation support for the launch of the “Roblox Bureau”
